Who was Polly? Before her admission into the treatment center at the age of 75, no one is exactly sure.
We do know Polly was born on January 28th, 1935 outside of San Antonio, Tx. At an early age she was diagnosed with polio, leaving her unable to have children. She became a widow in the mid 1990s and after being diagnosed with COPD, she self admitted into a long term care facility in 2010 in Austin, TX.
Sounds like a sad and lonely life, right? I can assure you based on our time together highlighted by her wild and imaginative stories it was anything but. Polly was vibrant in personality but reclusive from the other residents. Even so, she anonymously bought others in the facility gifts with the little money she had. She loved to read, paint, and journal. She was a life guru and had compassion for anyone that returned the connection (unless you were there to give her a shot).
She resided in the care facility for almost 6 years before her conditions worsened and dementia took hold. Polly passed peacefully with many of us by her side on June 19th, 2016.
Polly's curious past may never be fully discovered but her life after death journey will be expansive, profound and shared for years to come.
Polly, get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
